President Barack Obama

I would like to know how people in other countries feel about the United States of America electing a bi-racial man as president.

All you lurkers out there please post a comment. I'm very interested in your views.

Thanks!

I think it's fucking fantastic. I didn't mind in the early days whether it was Hils or him. But now I think he is the way forward for the world. Which is why I was crying my eyes out at 4am my time when the BBC agreed tha he had indeed won.
Go Obama we need you.

Congratulations on your new president! It's a brave and forward-looking choice. Certainly here in Denmark he seems to have captured people's imagination, whereas 'Dubya' was viewed with suspicion.

I think it's a good thing, but time will tell. It's not race that matters, but what you do when in a position of responsibility.

I could feel a totaly energy shift in everyone here in Philadelphia today.

He's got alot of work ahead of him, but I have confidence that he'll do it!

I watched your election coverage quite a bit and was never really sure what Obama's policies actually were. I'm sure he can't be any worse than Bush that is if his bodyguards can keep him alive for a whole term?

I know he's the man for the job, he looks hard working, a family man with ideas that will change America, but like our collapsing economy n country, complete with Gordon Brown ( who I think is a complete 'twat')I hope for all your sakes he delivers what he proposed to do, it will take time as miracles don't happen over night. Good Luck to him and his family. I wouldn't want the job!!

Hi nitebird. I voted for him. When he was battling with Hilary I was more a Hilary supporter. I thought she was more experienced for the job...though I liked him too. But that is now history...Obama's views are still closer to mine than McCain's.

America need to go a different Direction and there is much to do and ther is much to change. I'm proud that the majority of the American people did not let color interfere when it came time to vote.

We as Americans still have a long way to go. Not all Americans have the same same rights.

Small steps...honey, sometimes it's small steps.

Ciao babe.

Thank you all. It was a long and difficult decision for me to pick my candidate. In the end, I went with Mr. Obama. In the past, I have alway voted Republican. Yes, I voted for President Bush - both times. I read a lot about Obama and felt that his background and inexperience could help America. While his race is a bigger deal here than in other countries, he is and has experienced both life as black and white. He knows what it's like to live in America from both sides. While I am hopeful that Obama will lead us in a new and better direction, I'm fearful. Chopper voiced my biggest fear. The last time we had a young, vision forward President, he was taken away before we could realize his best efforts. America and technology have moved forward rapidly since 1963 - good and bad -I just pray that the intelligence and security have surpassed the lunacy that we seem to have an abundance of. Thank you all, again.

America got it right and the world is in awe; since it couldn't happen in their neck of the woods. He has a tough road ahead, but I am confident he will lead us on a good path.

Its the man who counts, not his colour, although it could be argued that his colour makes him! I just hope he lives up to everyones dream of him!
