Race Walk for The Cure

It's that time of year again, gang. I'm going to haul my old bones down to West Palm Beach and walk the 5K Susan G. Komen Race for The Cure route in honor of my daughter and in memory of several friends mothers, sisters, aunts, grandmas, etc. on Saturday, January 31, 2009.

Our team raised $1,745.00 for breast cancer research this year. WOOHOO!

I'd like to thank my readers who donated to our team. I can't tell you how much it is appreciated, especially the way the economy is. I also want to thank everyone who's sent a good thought or prayer my daughter's way. She's 2.5 years cancer free!

Don't call me on Sunday. I'll be sleeping in a IcyHot haze!

Akelamalu ~ It is. I always donated but until my daughter was diagnosed, never did the walk. It's fun, sad, hopeful and exhausting all at the same time. I look forward to it now.

Spiky ~ Aw, thanks, hun! Let me know about your sister's fundraiser, I always donate! I <3 you hard, too!

Ronjazz ~ Thank you very much. It means a lot to me and to every one who's life breast cancer has touched.

Ron ~ Yeah! My niece's wife was a madwoman in getting money out of people! LOL Thanks for the tip. I've got some Dead Guy's chillin' right now.

Annie ~ Thanks, Annie. We did do a good job this year.

I think that's wonderful. A really wonderful friend of mine JUST found out that she has breast cancer. I am shocked and saddened all at the same time. I mean, I am scared for myself and cringe every time i go for my mam, and thankful that mine are okay. Just knowing several that I know that are going through it now, saddens and scares me even more. I am scared of breast cancer... they have to find a cure soon!

I am so happy that your daughter is cancer free for 2.5 years. I'll keep you all in my thoughts and will keep very close tabs and burn a candle for you the day you guys walk. Be safe on your journey and know I will be with you all in spirit!

RHT ~ Keep going for your mammograms, no matter what! I'm sorry about your friend, if she needs someone to talk to, email me and I'll give you my daughter's email addy. My daughter was 28 when she was diagnosed. There is so much better treatments now then there were just a few years ago thanks to places like The Susan G. Komen Foundation. I'll keep your friend in my thoughts and prayers.

Cake ~ We did good! It was fun. The most touching part of the day is the survivors recognition. It's very emotional.

Dazza ~ Thanks! We had a lot of fun even if I couldn't feel my legs towards the end.

Sage ~ So, where where you when I was trying to get that IcyHot on the back of my legs?

Autumn ~ We also do the Relay For Life. I'll have to rest up. Good for you, girl!

Indigo ~ I'm still kinda tired but happy we raised so much money and that we all finished the walk. It's good to see more and more long-term survivors at the race and to remember all the women who aren't there to walk. All in all, it's a wonderful experience.

DJ ~ Those are cute "trainers", I have a pair of pink high-top Converse that I wear. The race went fabulous. CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR ENGAGEMENT!!

CHOPPER PROPOSED TO DJ!!! Just in case y'all didn't know!
