These heroes are dead. They died for liberty - they died for us. They are at rest. They sleep in the land they made free, under the flag they rendered stainless, under the solemn pines, the sad hemlocks, the tearful willows, and the embracing vines. They sleep beneath the shadows of the clouds, careless alike of sunshine or of storm, each in the windowless Place of Rest. Earth may run red with other wars - they are at peace. In the midst of battle, in the roar of conflict, they found the serenity of death. I have one sentiment for soldiers living and dead: cheers for the living; tears for the dead.

12 blew out from under the bed:
LOL I'm sorry!!! I could not take that as seriously as I would have liked... with that song playing in the background! xx
Luckily I have my sound turned off and thought that the memorial words were touching and beautiful. I want to turn the sound on now but it is too early everyone but me is asleep.
Oh! Shit! I forgot about the song!
I've changed it to something more appropriate. My favorite hymn, Ave Maria sung by Chris Cornell.
Thanks for the beautiful reminder, Miss Nitebyrd...thank you.
Enjoy your day, dear lady.
The music is still a bit distracting.
But the meaning wasn't.

This day is always a sober reminder of the live lost in the name of our freedoms.
Awwwww this was the song we had played at our wedding during the signing! xx
Thanks for remembering all who made us what we are today. My dad is a WWII vet and today the kids ask what war was that? Thanks from a very appreciative daughter who has a father who seems to revisit those times more as those friends get fewer.
Of all of the countless tributes that I have known of on this day of Memorial, throughout the years ... You have selected the most perfect! Naught can add to, nor should cause distraction from what You have so-thoughtfully provided.
Loving You is an enhancement to my Being.
I had commented her I am sure...why is my system acting up? grrrr.
Sorry I missed you yesterday...and happy belated Memorial Day babes.
Ciao babes.
Too young to go.
Too young to kill.
Too young to die.
Too young for the memory that lasts forever.
Good job Sweetie.
