"My father died many years ago, and yet when something special happens to me, I talk to him secretly not really knowing whether he hears, but it makes me feel better to half believe it."
Father's Day is always a little difficult for me. My father died when I was 7. I have missed him everyday of my life. What would have been? He was 53 years old when I was born. I only wish I could have had some more time with him to know him better and to have him know me. He never saw me graduate, he didn't walk me down the aisle when I got married, he never saw his grandchildren. So many regrets, so few memories.
When my daughter got married, she wanted me and her father to walk her down the aisle. It was the one thing I couldn't agree with her on. It had to only be her father. As I stood by the Chuppah and watched my beautiful daughter and her father walk happily and tearfully down the walk, I imagined my father and me. It was lovely.
Thank you all for stopping by and I hope everyone had a marvelous day.
Talk to him every day nitebyrd, he's with you wherever you go or stay. You can't see him but he's there. He holds you in his heart. And if talking to him makes you feel better then go for it.
This is a blog by a woman in her 50's who is finally on the crooked path to find who she truly is.
Married at 19 and divorced at 53. I am going to unearth the artist, the cynic, the free spirit that has been long buried. Or die trying.
I've left Bethlehem
and I feel free...
I've left the girl I was supposed to be
and some day I'll be born.

Of course he hears. Lovely sentiments Nitebyrd. :)
Natasha should "Believe it All". Our Fathers are always alive, as long as we choose to remember them...
Thanks for the well wishes on Father's day Nitebyrd.
What a beautiful image and touching quote!
Yes...I definitely believe our father's hear us.
